Media thoughts : Aggregation

I recently got asked if it was possible to "subscribe" to listings from the UK charts.

My initial thoughts were, well ... where are they listed ... to which it became clear that the place to get the difinitive listing would be the bbc, they seem to hold the UK chart listings "as seen on TV" which technically makes them the holder of all the cards.

So, a friend nicely pointed me here which as it turns out is how the bbc notifies the internet of it's current top 40.

From here I had a simple task, parse and rebuild an RSS xml document from that html content.

Well that was something I could do.

Question is, would it be helpful, and how does having an RSS list of the charts make it any more useful than that source page.

So I started to think about some of my other code samples, and that's where it got interesting.
