Content Management Solutions

With todays connected world ever changing and becoming more and more "online" few people spend most of their time on a pc without using the internet. The key here is that the internet is easily the most intuative place for a person to manage their every day lives and so by providing intuative services that makes your visitors lives easy will ensure they come back.

What is content management ?

Content management is the path taken to publish information. By using content management systems many large companies have made it possible for people like their marketing staff to provide regular updates to the users of their "intranet" as well as give the outside world key information on the goings on of the company. Such users would not need any knowledge of html or how to create web pages because the software that runs on the server does this on their behalf. This software is known as a "content management system".

Why should i have a managed web site ?

By using a content management system you will be be able to make fast changes to the content of your own site and in some cases offer others to do the same. Think about sites like myspace and facebook, by creating a community that can make its own decisions on what it wants to see the community effectively shapes itself and the site goes with the current trends of its users.

Are all websites content managed ? Why not ?

No, many sites are still running older systems or have been designed in such a manner that a web developer needs to make alterations to them. This is usually seen as a bad thing in the current wave of dynamic web technology because it makes a web site nutoriously slow complex to update.

So why all the hype ?

The most obvious benefits come in the ability to make striking changes in a very short space of time. Sites that run on "templated" systems can be massively affected by altering the template rather than the content, in other words if i build a "template" that controls the layout of my pages then tell every page to use this template then a change to the template is a change to every page on the site in one go.

So what happens next ?
